Florence is the county seat of Pinal County in South Central Arizona.
The town was founded by Civil War Veteran Levi Ruggles who was serving as an indian agent in 1866. Ruggles chose the name "Florence" as it was a favorite name of the family.
The town's population was 3,391 in 1980. It has grown to 25,536 by 2010.
